Applicants must be detail oriented, have customer service experience, strong communication and organizational skills and have an outgoing personality. The ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and in a timely manner, work well in a team environment, perform under tight deadlines and exhibit sound judgment on a consistent basis is required.

Individuals selected must also have a flexible schedule that includes availability starting at 3:00pm Monday through Friday and all day on weekends. (ONLY APPLICANTS THAT MEET THE SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEED APPLY) Internships will begin in the last week of September 2009 and run through May or June 2010, averaging two to three games per week. Game night interns will be required to attend all home games and special events.

COMMUNICATIONS/PUBLIC RELATIONS

WHO WE ARE…

The Los Angeles Communications Department is responsible for all media relations, public relations and broadcasting issues involving the Team. This department creates all of the Club’s publications and handles all player interviews.

GAME DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

HOME & PLANE PACKS
Deliver packets of information made for all home coaches, team broadcasters and beat writers
•Include game notes, clippings, next opponent notes and all relevant NBA/Clippers news of the week.

RESERVED TAGS
•Location markers in all media areas and photo wells
•Cards are placed in their appropriate positions indicated by the seating chart.

PRESS GATE/MEDIA WILL CALL
•Location where all media pick up their credentials and tickets for that evening’s game. •Monitored from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (Or 2 1/2 hours prior to tip-off)
•Two 1 1/2 hour shifts will be assigned

PRESS ROOM
•Must be monitored by at least one intern AT ALL TIMES
•Keep stocked at all times with game notes, next opponents’ notes, GAMETIME programs, clips and score sheets, and all other information we provide throughout the game.

BROADCAST ATTENDANT
An individual assigned to serve as runner for both home and visiting television and radio broadcast outlets, as well as, home and visiting PR as needed.

STATS
•Box Scores and Play-by-Plays are generated after each quarter
•Copies are made and then distributed to the media ASAP.
•”Final Books”, a compilation of all stats from the game, are assembled immediately following the game.

NBA SCORES
•All scores of other NBA games are printed from NBA.com or ESPN.com and distributed to media and broadcast members throughout the game

POST-GAME
QUOTES
•Obtained after the game from both teams’ coaches and players.

FAX
•Stats and quotes from the game are sent to a master list immediately following the game.

MAILINGS
•Some outlets are mailed a number of stats following the game.
*This is the final assignment before leaving for the evening*

NON-GAME DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

RUNNING STATISTICAL GAME PACKS

• Interns will assemble packets of information made for all visiting coaches, team broadcasters and beat writers
• Include game notes, clippings, next opponent notes and all relevant NBA/Clippers news of the week.
• An individual will be assigned day before a game to deliver “packs” to visiting team and visiting writers hotels.

OFFICE HOURS
• From time to time interns will have the opportunity to come in the office to assist with special projects
• Interns with excellent writing skills will have the to opportunity to contribute content for the Clippers website
