Job Overview
Organize community outreach efforts and activities for the Chicago Sky and Sky Cares Foundation that demonstrate its involvement in the community and the dedication to driving positive social change especially for young girls and women in need.
Generate funds for Chicago Sky and Sky Cares Foundation that further allows the Sky to increase its community outreach efforts and touch a larger population of young girls and women in need.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Help to develop and implement a community relations plan that in the most effective and efficient manner builds supportive, involved relationships for the team while doing “good” for the community and the business
• Generate funds through the following means to allows the Sky / Sky Cares Foundation to increase its community outreach and impact:
o Research, locate and submit appropriate grant proposals that are in line with the mission of Sky Cares Foundation
o Establish potential donor target groups and create the marketing and programming to enlist their support
o Conduct silent, live and online auctions of Sky autographed memorabilia and fan experiences and further enhance these efforts by conducting a memorabilia exchange with WNBA teams and other professional teams
o Create and manage specific programming that drives revenue (tickets, sponsorship opportunities etc) to ensure the Sky can continue to increase its community outreach efforts and touch a larger population
o Build sustainable relationships with preferred community based organizations• Activate WNBA programs such as: Breast Health Awareness, Go Green, Fit and WNBA Cares Week of Service
• Seek and assist team leaders with speaking engagements that increase Team awareness and help to create new fans
• Coordinate the Sky player’s involvement in community platforms / organizations
• Manage the community relations calendar and balance the number and type of appearances completed by the players
• Organize and implement the signature event of the Sky Cares Foundation “Chicago Sky Fitness Festival”
• Manage the Chicago Sky mascot and coordinate scheduling of appearances while actively seeking new opportunities to advance the awareness and identity of Sky Guy in the Chicago-land area.Criteria & Qualifications:
• Excellent phone & computer skills; specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point & Outlook
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with attention to detail and quality
• Able to deal with internal and external clients in a professional manner
• Excellent writing skills
• Excellent time management skills with ability to keep track of multiple calendars & multi-task
• Highly motivated, self starter, committed to teamwork with a passion for working in sports.Additional Desirable Qualifications:
• Knowledge and experience using Archtics
• Grant writing experienceThe ideal candidate should be prepared to work in the Sky office, located downtown and attend Sky home games and events which at times may be after business hours (weeknights and weekends). Position reports to the Director of Communications and Operations.
